On July 4th we all went to
the Washington Monument to see the fireworks. Barney and his sons, a few
kids from Laurelhome and a couple visitors all piled into a van, and
Daniel and I followed them in his car. We got a killer spot right next
to where they were going off, and the boys played volleyball while some
of us girls hid out in the shade.
The fireworks show was so spectacular, and we were so close the smoke drifted over to our spot on the grass on a constant basis. It was too cool. Tons of people just packed out there on the lawn beneath the washing ton monument, and all races and colors just enjoying a day of freedom and fun. I snapped this picture when Daniel was watching fireworks, and didn't even know if it would come out. He was so handsome that night. |
On the way home, I yawned "I'm so tired." Daniel just smiled and put his arm around my shoulders, nodding "Me too, Boo-boo." Between exploring downtown D.C., the guys playing volleyball, exploring a "Just say yes to pot smoking" rally live bands and 103 temperatures, it had been a long day. We walked together through the darkened streets and thinning crowd toward his car, and drove home to cuddle up for a quiet night's sleep. I miss you, "Bubbies." |
